Celebrating four internationally recognised design award wins, selected from over 16,500 entires across 52 countries.
Melbourne, AU (May 2021) – Orbitkey has been honoured with Red Dot and iF Design Awards for its Nest and Desk Mat products, accompanying the Orbitkey Key Organiser in the internationally celebrated design community. Including these new accolades, Orbitkey has been honoured with a total of 7 award wins and 1 iF Gold Design Award to date.
“We are truly humbled by these recognitions. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of our entire team’s dedication to their passion and endless pursuit for creating the most meaningful customer experiences,” said Richard Benson, Orbitkey’s Senior Industrial Designer. “We’re so thankful for our Melbourne design team and everyone who continues to work closely with us.”
“The idea for the Orbitkey Desk Mat was born in the early weeks of lockdown, with the belief of using design as a timely response and hopefully an enduring solution to cultural shifts. Being recognised by these awards is an absolute honour,” said Kennyjie, Industrial Designer at Orbitkey.
Orbitkey Nest is a portable desk organiser to help you declutter and be more efficient – wherever you work. It keeps your daily essentials and work accessories organised while you work at a desk, but also while you move from one place to another. The lid serves as a beautiful tray, helping you maximise desk space and keep things in place; whilst the foam padded interior protects your belongings as you go about your daily commute. With a wireless charging pad embedded in the top tray, your device will stay charged while you work.
Early in 2020, Orbitkey Nest raised over $500,00 on Kickstarter from 5,614 supporters in just 45 days.
The Orbitkey Desk Mat reimagines the traditional desk pad as a highly functional tool, to help you create and maintain a beautiful, inviting and organised workspace. Packed with innovative features, the toolbar provides a dedicated space for essentials, whilst the magnetic cable holder keeps cables in place and within reach. The seamless and elegantly designed document hideaway allows you to store notes and loose papers, so they stay out of sight.
In July 2020, the Orbitkey Desk Mat raised over US$399,000 on Kickstarter from 5,618 supporters in just 38 days.
The Red Dot Design Award:
The Red Dot Award: Product Design, which origins date back to 1955, appraises the best products created every year. In roughly 50 categories, manufacturers and designers can enter their innovations in the competition.
True to the motto, “In search of good design and innovation”, the jury evaluates the entries and only awards a Red Dot to products that win them over with their high design quality. Nest and Desk Mat were evaluated by The Red Dot Jury, comprised of 36 international experts who tested, discussed, and assessed each of the 6,500 entries individually, of which only 78 received the prestigious Red Dot Award.
iF World Design Guide Award:
For 67 years, the iF Design Award has been recognised as an arbiter of quality for exceptional design. The iF label is renowned worldwide for outstanding design services, and the iF Design Award is one of the most important design prizes in the world. All awarded entries are featured on the iF WORLD DESIGN GUIDE and in the iF Design app.
The Orbitkey Desk Mat and Orbitkey Nest won over the 98-member jury, made up of independent experts from all over the world. The competition was intense, with almost 10,000 entries submitted from 52 countries in hopes of receiving the seal of quality.
